Every NVUS Hearts tee carries its design on the back, printed full width in heavy lettering. The front stays clean. Here is why the brand is built that way.
It reads from behind
A back print is read by everyone the wearer walks past, in line, on the train, at the game. A chest print is read by the one person facing them. The back is the bigger canvas and the longer view, so the lettering is set big and the reference small beneath it.
One statement per shirt
Each design is one line and a reference. Living Proof says I'M LIVING PROOF OF GOD'S GRACE with Ephesians 2:8 under it. God Over Everything says exactly that, and it was the first design the brand launched. The World Is Yours carries Proverbs 3:5. I AM carries John 14:6 with a small I AM on the chest. No sleeve hits, no all-over patterns.
Heavy lettering, clean front
The front is plain so the tee works as a layer and the back does the talking. The lettering is heavy on purpose. It has to hold up at a distance.
Printed by hand
A full-width back print only sits right when it is placed by hand, one shirt at a time. That is how every piece is made, in Boston, by the founder. More on that in Hand-Pressed in Boston.
The set
The hats carry the same idea in embroidery: one oversized patch on the front. The Living Proof trucker hat matches the tee.
